Itinerary

DAY 1:  Arava Border – Wadi Mujib Siq Trail – Madaba
Trekking: 2 hours; 2KM

Our representative will meet you upon arrival on the Jordanian side of Arava Border and assist with your entry and visa to Jordan.  After, continue to Wadi Mujib to hike the Siq Trail.  This water adventure starts at the visitor center near the Mujib Bridge, where you will take the cantilevered walkway over the dam and follow the course of the river between towering sandstone cliffs to the base of a large waterfall. Depending on seasonal rainfall levels, the gorge may contain pools deep enough for swimming. This is an ideal walk to take slowly and enjoy the cool water and shade, especially in the heat of the summer.  The trail is graded as easy to moderate depending on the season and guests must be at least 18 years old, know how to swim with a reasonable level of fitness. We then continue to Madaba for dinner and overnight.

Day 2:  Madaba – Wadi ibn Hammad – Kerak
Trekking: 4 - 5 hours; 8KM

Breakfast at the hotel, the driver and guide will meet you then continue to Wadi ibn Hammad where we will hike 4 - 5 hours and have a boxed lunch during the hike. Hiking in this wadi is like hiking in a subtropical rain forest. Water seeps from every crevice while an abundance of plants and palm trees grows vicariously from the canyon walls displaying all different hues of green. The dripping water paints the underlying rock surfaces various shades of red while crystal-type stalactites dangle from above. Around every corner, there is another breathtaking view to be discovered. We then continue to Kerak for dinner and overnight.

Day 3:  Kerak – Wadi Afra – Dana
Trekking: 4 hours; 8KM

Breakfast at the hotel, the driver and guide will meet you then continue to Wadi Afra to trek 4 hours through its hanging gardens, narrow gorges and hot springs. Its upper reaches are carved into white limestone, creating a playground of giant boulders. We will also have a boxed lunch during the hike.  After, we continue to Dana for dinner and overnight.

Day 4:  Dana - Feynan
Trekking: 6 - 7 hours; 18KM

Breakfast at the hotel, then start the day trekking from Dana Nature Reserve, one of Jordan's loveliest conservation and wilderness areas, to Feynan Canyon.  This spectacular downhill trek winds through the sandstone gorge of Wadi Dana.  Along the way, you will likely encounter the local Bedouin herding their sheep and goats. During the trek, we will also stop for lunch in a nice shaded area.  As you approach Feynan Canyon, you will see Feynan Eco Lodge – one of the top 10 eco lodges in the world – where you will have dinner and overnight.

Day 5:  Feynan – Copper Mines – 4x4 to Little Petra via Namla Pass
Trekking: 3 - 4 hours; 6KM

Breakfast at the lodge, your guide will meet you and this morning to start the Copper Mines Trail.  Learn how vast deposits of copper were discovered, mined and processed at Feynan by ancient civilizations thousands of years ago and what an important supply center Feynan was for the Roman Empire. Explore deep, long-forgotten mine shafts and visit nearby sites to see how the copper was transported and refined, leaving vast slag formations from the smelting process that are still visible today. After, 4x4’s will meet us to transfer us out of the reserve and continue by 4x4 down Jordan’s most dramatic and scenic roads through Wadi Araba and Wadi Namla to Little Petra. The drive starts at sea level and climbs to 1000 meters above sea level.  Dinner and overnight camping in Little Petra.

Day 6:  Little Petra – Camels to mountain base - Hiking to Monastery – Aqaba
Trekking: 6 hours; 12KM

Breakfast at the camp, then enter Petra in a way in which very few visitors have – through the secret entrance to the Monastery.  Start by taking camels to the mountain base.  Then the climb starts as the narrow route, open to sheer drop-offs, leads to perhaps Petra's most awe-inspiring monument, the Monastery. We will then walk down the well-worn Nabataean steps into the heart of Petra where we will have lunch at Al Basin Restaurant, then continue to Qasr al Bent, Colonnaded Street, Facades Street, Royal Tombs, the Theatre, ending at the Treasury.  We then exit Petra via the Siq where our driver will meet us. We then start the drive to Aqaba for some much deserved pampering and relaxing. Dinner and overnight in Aqaba.
